Starch’s primary function is to provide water-loss capabilities to polymer and flocculated drilling fluids. It provides both fluid loss control and viscosity through its long chain polymer configuration.
Applications/Functions:
It is a fluid loss control agent for a variety of water based drilling fluids. This highly derivatized, complexed polyose ether blend has several unique properties and advantages over traditional unmodified starch polymers used in drilling fluids.
